As we near the end of 2013, we are looking forward to the implementation of the new governance system for our church. This was approved at a special church business meeting on October 13th. At the Quarterly Family Gathering on November 24th the SCFBC membership elected six members to serve on the new Board with. Pastor Rich being the 7th member. Some things will change, but most will remain the same, as the various ministries of the church continue. Most of the members will be involved in the same ministries of the church as before. Pastor Rich will have more responsibilities to make sure that everything progresses smoothly. He will appoint various people to serve on different teams to carry out the ministries of the church. Please pray for Pastor Rich, the staff and the new Board as they work together. Pray also for what your role should be in the church, what God would have you to do. Remember we are “Here to Serve."
This has been an interesting and challenging year as we have worked together and with Dr. Hoyt to fulfill the prescriptions he gave us. This coming year will also be challenging as the church adjusts to the new system.
It’s been a pleasure serving as Chair of the Board of Deacons for the past 3 years, and I look forward to what 2014 will bring. Thank you for all your support during my term of office.
