November 2015

On October 19-21 Santa Clara First Baptist sent a team of 11 to help with the relief effort for people devastated from the Valley Fire in Lake County, CA. The base of operations was located at Harvest Fellowship Christian Church in Clearlake and we worked with the disaster relief organization, Samaritan's Purse. Our task was to find valuables in the ashes of people's homes following the fire.  We sifted through the rubble to find precious items like jewelry, coin collections, china and other collectibles. We worked with the homeowners of 11 houses in our 3 days there.  At each site, we would look for valuables, talk with the homeowners, listen to their stories and present them with a Bible that we all signed with verses and encouragement.  Chaplains from Samaritan's Purse would also come and share the Gospel with the homeowners and pray for them as we worked.

Dear children, let's not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.  1 John 3:18
