What is the Fellowship Fund?

Many people want to help those in great need, and especially those who may have experienced a situation that ocassionally leaves them without the resources to pay all their bills.

We read in Acts 2:44-45 that members of the early Christian church helped others in need.
In that same spirit, SCFBC has a Fellowship Fund to take care of those in our congregation who periodically face critical financial problems. The money to solve these problems comes from your gifts made directly to the fund, rather than coming from general offerings. If you are led to contribute over and above your general offering, by giving to the Fellowship Fund to help those who are in immediate need of financial help, simply add the notation “Fellowship Fund” and the amount on your giving envelope.

Examples of how the Fellowship Fund assists others

The Fellowship Fund also supports the SCFBC Food Pantry, which supplies non-perishable food to the needy. The Food Pantry always appreciates donations of non-perishable food or personal toiletries, including the following items: cans of tuna, vegetables, beans, fruit, spaghetti sauce, and soups, as well as bags or boxes of pasta, rice, crackers and cereal. Toiletries are also included in the food bags. Items can be left on the Lobby Information desk on Sundays or be brought to the office during the week. Please be sure the food expiration dates are current and not out of date.

If you, or someone you know, needs an extra two bags of food once a month, come to the church office Monday through Friday between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. The Food Pantry is here to help everyone in need.

Would you like to volunteer?

The Fellowship Fund is overseen by the SCFBC Connection Team, with input and oversight by our pastors. If you have any questions about this ministry, or would like to volunteer, email Jerri Cooper at jerri@scfbc.org. Currently, we are looking for a volunteer to keep a supply of bags filled, which requires a commitment of about one or two hours a week.
