Youth Pastor
August 2018

Summer is a busy time for our church's youth ministry, and we have enjoyed a season packed with both fun events and discovering what truly matters.

VIBE kicked off the summer with our annual pool party.

We served at the YWAM missions trip in San Francisco.

We watched award-winning social justice films and greeted guests at the Windrider Film Forum.

We enjoyed the roller coaster and many other rides at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.

We played miniature golf at Golfland.

We joined the Emerge Youth Group in San Jose – swimming, eating and playing basketball.

And now we are getting ready for our annual Summer Retreat at Mount Cross on August 10-12. This retreat is when our youth can "unplug" and pause in order to experience the fullness of God’s love.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE WITH "THE SHOE THAT GROWS"

The VIBE youth group has been focusing on “What Matters,” and learning about young people who have made an impact in the world. Through this study, both Ava and Grace developed a passion to start a shoe drive for children without shoes. I recently supported a pastor friend who brought new shoes to children in Uganda. After researching theshoethatgrows.org, we were inspired to support their mission.

Over 1.5 billion people suffer from soil-transmitted diseases worldwide.

Without shoes, children are especially vulnerable to soil-transmitted diseases and parasites that can cause illness and even death. Children who get sick miss school, can’t help their families, and suffer needlessly. And because children’s feet grow so quickly, they often outgrow donated shoes within a year, leaving them once again exposed to illness and disease. "The Shoe That Grows" can change all that.

Join with the VIBE youth group and help us reach our goal of raising $1500 by August 31st!

Just $15 buys one pair of shoes, and our goal is 100 pairs. Please make checks payable to "SCFBC" and write “VIBE Shoe Drive” in the memo line.

Thank you for helping!
