August 2018

We are a church that loves God and loves people with God's immeasurable love. We follow Jesus as Lord, Leader, and Savior. Yes!

We are His disciples, representing over 40 nations. So if you come to our church services, or any of the church's many events, you will likely meet someone who has a close affinity with you.

A House Of Prayer For All Nations

On Sunday morning, July 29th, our love for God and His people were expressed in many languages from all over the world. The worship service was amazing! As I stood and sang the songs glorifying God in many multi-national languages, it brought me to tears. We are an expression of the living word of God: "My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations." (Matthew 11:17)

Loving Our Neighbors

In this month of August we will be expressing love for our neighbors in many ways: August 5th is H.O.P.E. Silicon Valley Sunday. H.O.P.E. stands for both Hunger & Health, Obedience (leading to outreach), Prayer, and engaging Education, and Helping Other People to Excel. On this day, in partnership with several other organizations, the church will be providing:

  • Free Backpacks and School Supplies
  • Free Medical Screenings
  • Free Haircuts for Students
  • Free Food

We have a big heart for the students and families of the communities we serve, and are responding to their needs by offering these services, and more, at H.O.P.E.

More Events in August

August 12 is Vacation Bible School (VBS) Celebration Sunday. Every Thursday, from July 12 through August 9, Santa Clara First Baptist has been, and still is, hosting a free VBS program – called "Hero Central" – for kids in the communities we serve. We are partnering with parents in these communities to train and teach kids to become good human beings. This is a fantastic educational program based on the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) concept.

August 19 is Youth Sunday. We will be celebrating youth, as well as encouraging them to use  their gifts and talents for the greater good of others at every opportunity.

August 26 is Worship in the Park. Each summer, Santa Clara First Baptist Church holds a Sunday service in Santa Clara Central Park to engage people who live in the city, but may be unfamiliar with our church. People from all over the world will experience the feeling of unity during this electrifying event. The barbecue meal after the service is always delicious, and free for everyone. We also focus on feeding the homeless who are in the park on that day. It is always a great Sunday morning to spend in the park. There are fun and games, balloon animals, face painting, and Zumba. We welcome you, your friends, and your neighbors to join us in the park on this special Sunday.

As a follower of Jesus, we are simply living out on this day what Jesus commanded:
"You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'" (Matthew 22:37-39)
