March 2019

Greetings from the Congo and Beyond

Thank you for your partnership in this adventure for Christ. We can't tell you how much we appreciate you advocating for the mission here in Congo.

It is a busy time here. We will be at an International Ministries Retreat at Victoria Falls. This involves flying to Kinshasa, and then going directly to the international airport for a flight to South Africa via Kenya. It will be an all-night trip. This also gives us the opportunity to see Rita's doctor. On Monday, we go to Victoria Falls and meet up with IM staff and other Africa partners. We hope to be back at Kikongo on the 18th.

Both of us departing at once meant a lot of preparation. We have to leave the house as if we were going on home assignment. One problem is that we have the only refrigerator in town. The hospital now has to figure out how to keep their medicines cool.

We just had a visit of the denominational women's delegation. Nine visitors from Kinshasa descended upon us. They were complaining about the lack of food available here in Kikongo. The local women did drain a fish pond so that they could have some protein with their greens. The women were very active with all night prayer vigils, and a Sunday service that lasted six hours ! Everyone is exhausted.

One of our high school teachers died earlier this week, so there has been disorder as the villagers all descended upon Kikongo trying to impose their village ceremonies. (I think I am ready to escape here for a bit.)

Glad to be in the tropics these days.

Thanks for your prayers for our trip.
