Library Team
August 2019

Giving away books at H.O.P.E. on Sunday, August 4th! As you may have seen, boxes of books have been piling up in the Giving Room, even as the Library Team has been working on other projects in July. The first project has been collecting and sorting used books that were donated for the book give-away at H.O.P.E. Silicon Valley on Sunday, August 4th, here at the church. For many months, we have been saving carefully used books to give to the children and their families who come to H.O.P.E. There are Christian books, fiction, non-fiction, children's books, teen books, cookbooks, past editions of National Geographic, and DVDs for both children and adults. Please pray that these materials will bring Christ-like knowledge and enjoyment for those who receive them.

The second project is the ongoing process of adding other donated books to the SCFBC library's collection. We LOVE to get new books, as well as books that have been well-loved and cared for by a previous owner. Thank you to all the people who have donated their time, talent, and "treasure" to keep the SCFBC Library filled with great books and other media materials for everyone to enjoy.

The third project is the other ongoing project of making room on the library shelves for new additions to the collection. This project is the hardest for me. It is like getting rid of your favorite pair of shoes after putting new soles on them, and wondering whether you now want get rid of them at all. To ease the pain of giving up good books to make room for others, which are newer or of greater interest, we replaced books prior to H.O.P.E. so we have lots of great books and other materials to give away. Overall, this "replacement & renewal" process gives library users a great selection of reference books, books for reading pleasure, and books on Christian living that help us on our journey with Christ.
