AWANA Ministries

AWANA stand for "Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed."

This ministry meets each Sunday evening from 5:15pm to 6:45pm during the school year, and is our younger age children's ministry for the Sunday evening EDGE Worship service. They meet in the Fellowship Hall building and it is designed to firmly plant the Word of God into the hearts and minds of children ages 3 through 5th grade. AWANA meetings include Scripture memory, handbook and council times, recreation, and other fun activities. Highlights during the year include Spark-O-Rama, Club Olympics, Bible Quizzing competition, Backwards Night, Drive-in Movie Night, AWANA Grand Prix and even a Build-Your-Own-Sundae Night.

CALENDAR OF EVENTS 2009-2010

September 13 - AWANA Begins
October 25 - Dress-up/bring a friend night
Come wearing your favorite costume of what you want to be when you grow up (or just your favorite costume). Bring a friend for extra points.
November 15 - AWANA Store #1
Kids will have the opportunity to redeem points earned in various ways for "AWANA bucks" which they can spend at the store.
November 29 - NO AWANA - Thanksgiving Break
December 13 - NO AWANA - Bethlehem Program
December 20 - Jesus' birthday party
Lots of familiar birthday party activities at Game Time, and a cake at Snack Time. Bring Jesus "presents" such as extra verses memorized at home.
December 27 - NO AWANA
January 3 - NO AWANA
January 10 - Special event night (theme TBA)
Kids will vote on what kind of activity they want to do before the Christmas break.
January 24 - Drive-in movie night
Kids make cars out of whatever household materials they have. There is a car contest (everyone gets a prize). They sit and watch a movie in their car and eat popcorn.
February 14 - NO AWANA
February 21 - Ministry Fair and Parents’ Night
We will have a brief Council Time, Book Time, and parents will join in Game Time. We will end with refreshments and awards.
March 14 - "Measles" night
A fun night featuring lots and lots of "dots."
April 4 - NO AWANA
May 2 - Awana Store #2

Clubbers are rewarded for all their hard work during the year. This is a good time to invite grandmas, grandpas, aunts, uncles, etc. and bring a camera!
