Restoration
(Jesus Restored Peter)
Sunday May 28th, 2017 - Pastor Wungreiso Valui
John 21:1-19

I am going fishing John 21:3

  • When Jesus first saw Peter, he was fishing (Matthew 4:18)
  • When Jesus showed Himself again to the disciples, Peter was fishing

Have you any food? John 21:5

  • The Bread of Life politely asked if they have food
"Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some" v6
  • Following Jesus is decidedly to be on the right side.

It is the Lord v7

  • Jesus is indeed the Lord
"Jesus said to them, "Bring some of the fish which you have just caught" v10
  • The direction that Jesus gave was never wrong

15 So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Feed My lambs."

Jesus asked the First time: Do you love Me more than these?"

Humility is Necessary for Reconciliation

16 He said to him again a second time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Tend My sheep."

Jesus asked the Second time: Do you love Me?

Admission Is Necessary for Redemption

17 He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, "Do you love Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You." Jesus said to him, "Feed My sheep.

Acceptance Is Necessary for Restoration

Jesus asked the Third time: Do you love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time (John 21:18)
