Life Group leaders
September 2019

In the Craft Corner Life Group, we are sharing our passions, learning, and helping each other as we help the Prayer Quilt Ministry and the American Baptist Women's Ministry serve local, regional and global missions.

You know what they say: "One person's unfinished project is someone else's treasure." Okay, that's not the exact quote, but you know what I'm getting at. We are on the hunt for the materials you have that are just taking up closet space, but that we can put to good use. Yep, I'm sure you have materials for projects your hearts are just not into anymore, and they're just taking up space, because your hearts are just not into "that" project anymore. Well, we can put those materials to good use.

And, would you just love to do a craft, but don't know where to start or what to do? Actually, that's how many of us in this Life Group feel. But now, please come join us, as we learn from each other, have fun while we're at it, and bring happiness to others!

Comfort Pillows. We recently received a big donation of cloth material, so when Brittany mentioned the Comfort Pillow idea, we were thrilled to lend our willing hands.
She taught us how to cut, sew, and stuff a total of 404 pillows. We distributed 318 of them at H.O.P.E Silicon Valley 2019, and another 40 were given to residents of a local retirement community when the Vacation Bible School (VBS) kids entertained them on August 14th. The Comfort Pillow project is a delightful project to work on!

Here's a list of materials we could re-purpose to make Comfort Pillows and other on-going ministry projects...and where we could use your help:

Comfort Pillows  we need polyester fiber fill.

Seafarers' Ditty Bags  the bags are made and we are now just waiting for the donations (see the Seafarers' article). Please join us at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, September 21st, to help fill the bags.

Knitted (or loom) Hats — we need yarn or extra round looms for the Seafarers', homeless outreach, and Christmas Child box hat  projects.

Jump Ropes — we need used t-shirts — in any condition — to cut up, stretch, and braid to make jumps ropes.

Prayer Quilts — we have plenty of material to share, but need more willing hands to help cut, pin, and sew them.

Christmas Child boxes - we need people to wrap, shoe boxes, and tape

Items for the Shoe Boxes — we need tennis balls (used ok) , small McDonald's toys, matchbox cars, hats, and donations of $9.00 for shipping each box.

Decorating Canvas Carry Bags — we have plenty of materials to make these and would love to share how they are made.

You can leave your donations in the Lobby Library basket,
or contact Patti Victorson or Jerri Cooper at jerri@scfbc.org.

Thank you for any donations you can make!
