One Great Hour of Sharing
Ever felt helpless when you heard of a disaster befalling those somewhere in the world? Good news! You can make a difference.
When Typhoon Haiyan struck the Philippines in November 2013, monies already collected through the One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS) offering were available to be released immediately to provide immediate aid. These funds were used to rebuild churches, homes, and schools as well as restore the livelihoods for many who had lost not only their homes but their boats and crops necessary for making a living. By January 2014 giving for this one need had reached $354,000!
Overall 2013 OGHS offerings were distributed to such needs as:
- Earthquake relief in China
- Support for persecuted Christians in Egypt
- Refugee relief in Nicaragua
- Support for people displaced because of the Syrian civil war
- Fire relief in Colorado
- Blizzard relief in South Dakota
Total giving to the OGHS for 2013 throughout America exceeded $1,700,000. Our church's goal for this year's offering is $3,000. You can make a difference! What part of this goal is the Lord asking you to give during our June emphasis?
