Margareth Valui
Family Life Minister
December 2015

During the week of Thanksgiving, we learned that God dried up the Jordan river for Joshua and the Israelite to cross over (Joshua 4:22). In the story, the people collected rocks from the river to remind them of the things God had done for them. If you would like to know what our children are thankful about, you can check out their "Thankful Rocks" in the children ministry lobby. As we move into the joyous Christmas season, children are challenged to say more "Thank You," and less "Gimme!"

I am thankful for my church family for making this transition for our family as easy as possible. Thank you Nicole Wiesen for arranging somebody to feed us almost every other day for the whole month of November! I know people are still bringing food in December! My heart is filled... more than the physical feeding you gave us. This makes me believe all the more in the church family, and in the body of Christ.

Another story that the kids learned in November was about Rahab making room for the Spies in Jericho. Rahab and her descendants were saved because of her act. I am thankful for Sharon and Jerry Cintas welcoming us into their home, for more than a month, before we get situated in our new home. We didn't know each other before July of 2015. But you welcome strangers into your home. Only the love of Christ can compel somebody to act like this! Its is easy to say, "We are one body," yet living it out is another matter. I hope we have room in our hearts and lives for some people who are needing the touch of a living God this Christmas season. Because God gave His Son to us!

I am thankful for the teachers and leaders of children and youth ministry. We have about 30 volunteers working with the children, and 10 adults leading the youth! With this kind of team spirit, I am excited to see where God will take us to the next level!

"So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved." Acts 2:46-47
