Summer Reading Suggestions

Have you found your "good books" for summer reading yet? I have and it was easy, because I signed up for the Santa Clara City Library's Adult Summer Reading Program. There's a program just for kids, too.

All I have to do is read at least three books during the summer, and I'll automatically be in a drawing to win a prize in August. As I complete other requirements in the Reading Program, I can earn even more chances to win — and have fun along the way.

From June 1 through July 21, you can sign up for the Summer Reading Program by visiting the Santa Clara City Library website.  Then you have until August 19 to read your books and complete some of the challenges in the "Passport to Reading Takes You Everywhere" brochure.

I guess it is the "kid" in me, but I'm excited about all this.

Soooo, I'm telling you all this because if you do sign up for the Santa Clara City Library's Reading Program, you can borrow books from our SCFBC Library, complete the Reading Program requirements, and be eligible to win a prize given by the Santa Clara City Library.

Over 4,000 books, DVDs, CDs and more in the church library

We have about 4,500 Christian / Family-friendly selections to choose from, so please stop by on Sunday after the service or during the Sunday Grill to select what you want to read. As you complete a book, you add the title to the Summer Reading Program's "Passport List."

Using the church library is very easy to do and convenient, too. In fact, it can save you a trip to the public library!

What will you be reading this summer?

Can you imagine that tonight I'm going to read a book about Elizabethan recipes from 1500 to1600! What unique book is on YOUR summer reading list?

I'd really like to know! You can let me know at jerri@scfbc.org.

Why is there blue tape on the book spines?

I mentioned the reason why in an earlier Library Corner article. So, do you remember why the library's books have blue tape on the spines? It's our way of saying "Hey, this book is NEW!" The number on the tape is currently a "6", which means the book was a new addition to the library in June.

Please take a look at the latest titles available at the Book Nook in the church lobby, and visit the library every Sunday after the sermon and during the Sunday Grill.
