Open Door
Developing the one Spiritual Discipline (habit) to Grow

Revelation 3:9-14

INTRODUCTION

• [I.] God has set an open door of possibilities and opportunities for you to grow: What is the one spiritual discipline (habit) you are willing to develop to make that happen?
• [II.] If you have developed a spiritual discipline, what is the one spiritual discipline you could add to that?

Because you have kept My Word

Your obedience and willingness moves God's heart to set an Open Door:

"Because you have kept My command to persevere" (Revelation 3:8)

The efficacy of an Open Door hinges on your obedience to keep the Word Of God:

For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise. (Hebrews 10:36)

They Persevered!

Your doing the Will of God is an essential prerequisite to receive the promised blessings.

I Will Give

When you obey, God demonstrates His Love by giving you honor as favored sons and daughters:

"Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie -- indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you." (Revelation 3:9)

Only God can give the increase because HE alone is in control of the result and outcome.

I Will Keep

When you obey, God demonstrates His Love by protecting you and guarding your reward:

"I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth. Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown." (Revelation 3:10-11)

God can give and take away what He has prepared for you.

I Will Make

Jesus will provide a firm, permanent (eternal) position:

"He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more." (Revelation 3:12)

When you overcome the World, God will welcome you with a Crown.

I Will Write

Jesus will confer permanent Identification and Citizenship in the City Of God

And I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches." (Revelation 3:12-13)

Jesus will sign his New Name on all who do not deny his name.
