1 Galations 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law (Galatians 5:22-23).
PATTERNS OF SPIRITUAL RENEWAL
- Spiritual Dryness Is Common To All Christians
- Spiritual Depression Precedes Spiritual Renewal
- Spiritual Renewal Comes When We Seek The One Who Renews The Spirit
- Active Spiritual Fruits Are Signs of Spiritual Renewal
THE FRUITS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
The fruits of the Holy Spirit are a good indicator of the health of a church, the body of believers.
LOVE
Agape love, the God-love enables us to love God and love our neighbors.
The Agape love is rare.
The rarity and specialty of this love directly is because of the author.
The author of Agape love is God and points out two very important functions of love.
The first function to this rare love is to love God.
The second function is to love the people, the world.
Love never fails.
JOY
The word joy was mentioned first in the Bible in association with songs and musical instruments (timbrel and harps).
The second time it was mentioned the word joy was associated with serving the Lord God with Joy, gladness of heart for the abundance of everything.
The outward expression of Joy
Welcome someone in such a way that the person will experience the beauty of fellowship.
That such fellowship will create a melody and gladness of heart and joy indescribable.
The inward expression of Joy
We serve God with gladness of heart and joy for the abundance of life.
Joy is a strength and the joy of the Lord is our strength.
PEACE
Peace is the reward of knowing God.
Peace comes through relationship - with God and with people.
We received peace by grace and grace is the manifestation of peace.
Jesus said My peace I give it you.
One sign of spiritual renewal is peace with God, peace with others and peace within.
Blessed are the peacemakers.
PATIENCE
Patience is not lashing out and paying back
Patience is the companion of self-control
KINDNESS
An act of giving more than you were asked to give
Practicing benevolence on people who have no rightful claim on you
GOODNESS
God was good to His chosen people and the gentiles
Goodness is an uprightness of our heart and life
FAITHFULNESS
The conviction that God exists and is the creator and ruler of all things,
the provider and bestower of eternal salvation through Christ
SELF-CONTROL
Transforming our natural impulses to spiritual impulses
When patience controls passions and impulses
