Identifying and applying our spiritual gifts were the focus of last month’s youth Bible study series, called YOUnique Spiritual Gifts and Talents. The youth used the SCFBC website to take the spiritual gifts' test, which helped them identify their spiritual gifts. We prayed for the Holy Spirit to give us insight, and discussed the importance of using our gifts to build up the church and each other.
"There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us. A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. It is the one and only Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have." (1 Corinthians 12:4-7, 11)
Pastor Jonathan reviewed the top three gifts with each youth and helped them identify the opportunities within VIBE and the church if they want to start exercising their gifts. The youth were invited to share in the teaching on Wednesday nights during our recent “We Are Family” series. Both Rey Valui and Julia Hagen stepped out in faith and spoke on the meaning of family with passion and energy, and then challenged the VIBE youth group to reflect on what they could do to make VIBE more of a family. We are proud of them and all our other youth who are serving our church in the Children’s and Hospitality ministries.
