JW House Ministry

Santa Clara First Baptist has teamed up with the JW House to serve dinner on the 4th Tuesday of every month to the families and patients staying there. If you want to help serve, we are looking for a team of 4-6 people that can buy, prepare, and serve the food in a buffet style to around 30 visitors. Please email Rosa Flores at rosa@scfbc.org for more information or to sign-up for a night.

The JW House, located in front of Kaiser Hospital in Santa Clara, is a respite house for families of patients that are in any hospital in the Santa Clara Valley. This house was a dream of a young boy, named Jan-Willem Knapen. During his battle with brain cancer, he began fundraising. Over the next few years he managed to fundraise several hundreds of thousands of dollars. During his fundraising time, he acquired lots of friends and family that shared his vision. When he lost his battle in 2005, he left assured that his supporters shared his passion and would see to the completion of the house. With continued fundraising and building efforts, the JW House opened, to serve families of the Santa Clara Valley in 2008. This beautiful home opened it's doors to provide, day use, as well as overnight accommodations showers, laundry room, play room and meditation rooms for families and friends who have loved ones in hospitals across our valley

In addition to these services, JW House serves a full dinner nightly. This is done through volunteer groups, restaurants, and individuals who provide dinners for approximately 30 people every evening. Meals can be brought in from restaurants or prepared in the full kitchen at the JW House. Dinners are to include, Bread, Salad, Entrée, side dish and dessert.
