What We Believe

First Baptist is a community of seekers and believers, encouraging each other as we seek to understand and follow the will of God for our individual and our corporate lives. As a community of faith, we enjoy many opportunities to share together in small, medium, and large groups; to worship God, to study His Word, to seek His guidance in prayer, and to fellowship with other Christian brothers and sisters. We also see ourselves as a people commissioned by God to reach out to our world with the grace and gospel of our Lord Jesus. We seek to minister to the needs of our community and spread the good news that God has provided the way through His Son to enter into eternal life with Him.

We are an American Baptist Church that is part of the Growing Healthy Churches organization. The church has a long history in Santa Clara and is the 4th oldest Baptist church in California.

Vision

Santa Clara First Baptist Church is: "a church of all nations, growing people into a loving relationship with God."

Mission Statement

Santa Clara First Baptist Church's mission is: "to make disciples of Jesus Christ who love God, obey God, serve God and help others become followers of Jesus."

God

We believe in the one creative and loving God revealed to the world as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Therefore we will demonstrate God's love to all people.

God the Father

We believe God the Father rules with perfect mercy, compassion and wisdom.

Therefore we will trust God and submit to His authority.

God the Son

We believe God the Son, Jesus, became human, providing the only way to reconcile imperfect people with the perfect God.

Therefore we will share Jesus, who is the only way to reconciliation with God.

God the Holy Spirit

We believe God the Holy Spirit teaches and empowers followers of Jesus to know and obey God.

Therefore we will rely on the Holy Spirit to empower us to obey God.

The Bible

We believe the Bible is God's unchanging truth, essential for teaching, correcting and training for living out God's plan.

Therefore the Bible will be the basis of our public teaching, individual study and personal living.

The Church

We believe the Church, a diverse community formed and led by Jesus, works together to continue His work in the world.

Therefore we will work together, each doing our part to continue Jesus' work.

Worship

We believe God is worthy of and delighted by a life lived in worship, honoring Him in everything we do.

Therefore we will honor God in everything we think, say and do.

Prayer

We believe prayer deepens our relationship with God, aligns us with His will, and leads to Him releasing His power.

Therefore we will live a life of prayer, trusting God's wisdom and power.
