Luke 15:25-32

The series will follow Jesus and study carefully how Jesus interacted with different people in different settings, as well as ask why he met with different individuals. This is a practical message on making disciples in an age of fantastic technology that most of us would not have dreamt possible. It is an integrated experience on how to live like Jesus daily, and how to apply the ancient but timeless message of Jesus in our modern world.

INTRODUCTION

The first step To Live Like Jesus is to LIVE. Be Active in Christ. Activate your life through Christ. To live like Jesus start living with Jesus. The first stage to live like Jesus is to start cultivating your relationship with God and growing into Christlikeness.

TWO CRITICAL FOUNDATIONAL TRUTHS IN THE FORMATION STAGE OF LIVING LIKE JESUS

• 1. Activate Your Life. Only Jesus Can Activate Your Life Via New Birth
  And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins. (Ephesians 2:1)
  Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
• 2. Authenticate Your Identity: Only The Holy Spirit Can Authenticate Your True Identity
  The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God (Romans 8:16)
  In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise. (Ephesians 1:13)

TWO CRITICAL STEPS IN THE FORMATION STAGE OF LIVING LIKE JESUS

• 1. To Live Like Jesus, Let Christ Live In You.
• 2. To Let Others Live Like Jesus, Follow The Examples Of How Jesus Interacted With Different People In Different Settings.

Jesus Interacting With Pharisees And Scribes (Tax Collectors & Sinners Listening)

The Story Of The Lost Sons And A Father

"Now his older son was in the field." (Luke 15:25)
Good Works Not Enough For Salvation

Not By Works But By Grace. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
Be Active. Activate Your Life Through Jesus And Let The Holy Spirit Authenticate Your True Identity.

"He was angry." (Luke 15:28)
Morality Is Not Enough.

Jesus Laid Down His Life. (1 John 3:14-16)
Be Attractive. (Fleshly) Anger Is Not Attractive.

"He would not go in." (Luke 15:28)
(Self) Righteousness Not Enough For Salvation

Not Because Of Righteous Things (Titus 3:5)
Be Appreciative. Graciousness Is Contagious.

"His father came out and pleaded with him." (Luke 15:28)
God Initiates A Relationship With You.

Only God Can Draw You To Salvation (John 6:44)
Be Attentive. Listen To God And To Others.

"These many years I have been serving you; I never transgressed your commandment at any time." (Luke 15:29)

God Wants A Father And Child Relationship Not Master And Slave
No Longer A Slave But A Son (Galatians 4:6-7)

"Yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might make merry with my friends." (Luke 15:29)
Do Not Keep Records Of Wrong Doings.
Forgive As Christ Forgave You (Colossians 3:13-14)

"But as soon as this son of yours came." (Luke 15:30)
Do Not Shut Up Your Heart For A Brother In Need. (1 John 3:17)
Love God, Love Your Brother (I John 4:21)

"And he said to him, 'Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours." (Luke 15:31)
Believe In Jesus To Become Children Of God.
Suffer With God And Be Glorified With Him (Romans 8:17)
Be Articulate. Share your faith intelligently

"It was right that we should make merry and be glad." (Luke 15:32)
Repentance Causes Rejoicing In Heaven.
"Rejoice your name is written in Heaven" (Luke 10:20)
Be Affirming. Love others with an affirming love of God

"For your brother was dead and is alive again, and was lost and is found." (Luke 15:32)
Be Authentic. Lead and live like Jesus daily

CONCLUSION

For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost. (Luke 19:10)
Be Accountable. Leave An Eternal Legacy
Let your life be a witness in this generation so that the generation to come and the children who would be born may arise and declare the mighty work and wonderful story of God to their children.
