The Gospel Plan (GPS)
Experiencing Jesus in our Everyday Life
Sunday November 24th, 2019 - Pastor Wungreiso Valui
Luke? 4:1-2

"Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, being tempted for forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and afterward, when they had ended, He was hungry." Luke 4:1-2

You are created to live a life full of meaning and purpose. Jesus lived a meaningful life and we can learn from Him to live a life that is real. He rejoices in the Father's will, Lord of heaven and earth. Jesus rejoices and give thanks when His disciples accomplish the Father's will. How did Jesus do this? Jesus experienced God in His everyday life.

How can we experience Jesus in our everyday life so we can live like Jesus?

  • Be Filled With The Holy Spirit. Jesus was filled with the Holy Spirit
  • Be Led By The Holy Spirit. Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit
  • Be Empowered By The Holy Spirit. Jesus was empowered by the Holy Spirit
  • Be Available To Serve With The Holy Spirit. Jesus was anointed to serve by the Holy Spirit

"Filled With The Holy Spirit" (Luke 4:1)

Experience The Holy Spirit With Jesus

First, you will be filled the Holy Spirit when you BELIEVE Jesus is the Son of God.

FILLED: The word "pleres" means full, complete, full grown, covered.

When you are filled with the Holy Spirit, you are endowed with supernatural power. So when you are tempted to disregard God's will, this supernatural power will help you to do the Father's will.

"Led By The Spirit" (Luke 4:1)

Experience Prayer With Jesus

Jesus was LED by the Spirit to pray, He fasted and prayed for 40 days.

Jesus prayed and consulted the Father for everything.

    Jesus prayed spontaneous prayer
  • Jesus prayed the Psalms
  • Jesus prayed in sorrow
  • Jesus prayed in solitude
  • Jesus prayed in suffering
  • Jesus prayed in joy
  • Jesus prayed with others

LED: The word "ago" means "ever since. Jesus was continuously under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Live By The Word: Ever since I believed in Jesus, I live by the word of God
Live To Worship: Ever since I believed in Jesus, I live to worship God alone.

"Returned In The Power"

Experience The Power With Jesus

"Then Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and news of Him went out through all the surrounding region." (Luke 4:14)

Jesus did everything with the power of the Holy Spirit.

Returned In The Power: There are three important things to remember in this passage:

  • 1. Jesus returned in the power of the Holy Spirit to Galilee
  • 2. Jesus' name rapidly became known throughout the region
  • 3. Jesus taught in the Jewish Synagogues

The Holy Spirit is given to you to:

  • 1. Make an impact where you are
  • 2. Spread the name of Jesus
  • 3. Teach the word of God

"The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me"

Do These Things To Experience Jesus In Your Everyday Life " (Luke 4:18-19)

Heal The Brokenhearted

Jesus came to bind up the broken hearted because of poverty, oppression, sin, lost loved ones, troubles, failed, fallen. "He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds." (Psalms 147:3)

Proclaim Liberty To The Captives

Jesus proclaims liberty to "those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery" (Hebrews 2:15), those who are in bondage to sin. (Romans 6:17)

Guide The Blind From Darkness To Light

Jesus came so you can "turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins." (Acts 26:18)

Liberty To The Oppressed
