THE PASSAGE
"But his wife said to him, 'If the Lord had desired to kill us, He would not have accepted a burnt offering and a grain offering from our hands, nor would He have shown us all these things, nor would He have told us such things as these at this time.'" - Judges 13:23
"Even so you, since you are zealous for spiritual gifts, let it be for the edification of the church that you seek to excel." - 1 Corinthians 14:12
THE MESSAGE
Encourage And Cultivate Spiritual Gifts At Home And-
Expand Your Gifts From Home To The Church And Other Ministries To-
Edify The Members of Your Family And The Spiritual Community.
SPIRITUAL GIFTS ARE FROM GOD TO OVERCOME THE SPIRITUAL BARRENNESS
"Indeed now, you are barren and have borne no children, but you shall conceive and bear a son." - Judges 13:3
Teach At Home That
- God created us to be fruitful (Genesis 1:28)
- God can take away our reproach
- Jesus took our shame and gave us His Spirit to bear fruit
- A spirit of barrenness can affect you even if you have not struggled with infertility
- Use biblical examples. Manoah's nameless wife is in great company of the great women of the Bible like Sarah, Rachel, Rebekah, Hannah, Elizabeth who all experienced barrenness.
SPIRITUAL GIFTS ARE FOR DISCERNING GOD'S ACTIVITY
"A Man of God came to me, and His countenance was like the countenance of the Angel of God, very awesome..." - Judges 13:6
Use Spiritual Gifts At Home To
- Distinguish between God and Satan and between spirits
- Manoah's wife discerned that it was a man of God, He was like the Angel of God, and He was awesome.
SPIRITUAL GIFTS ARE FROM GOD TO INTERVENE FOR OTHERS WITH CONFIDENCE
"Then Manoah prayed to the Lord, and said, 'O my Lord, please let the Man of God whom You sent come to us again and teach us what we shall do for the child who will be born.'" -Judges 13:8
Use Spiritual Gifts At Home To
- Intervene For Others Through Prayer
- Manoah prayed to let the man of God visit them again
- "Isaac prayed to the Lord on behalf of his wife, because she was barren; and the Lord answered him and Rebekah his wife conceived." -Genesis 25:21
- We are organizing a night of prayer tonight at 7:00 for comfort, peace and strength in these difficult and painful times
SPIRITUAL GIFTS ARE FROM GOD TO PRACTICE HOSPITALITY
"Then Manoah said to the Angel of the Lord, 'Please let us detain You, and we will prepare a young goat for You.'" -Judges 13:15
Use You Spiritual Gifts To
- Love your neighbors and strangers
- Manoah wanted to feed the Lord
- Abraham entertained the strangers and God removed their barrenness.
- Some have entertained angels unawares
- Use your spiritual gifts to bless someone of a different culture this week.
SPIRITUAL GIFTS ARE FROM GOD TO SKILLFULLY APPLY TO ALL LIFE SITUATIONS
"But his wife said to him, 'If the Lord had desired to kill us, He would not have accepted a burnt offering and a grain offering from our hands, nor would He have shown us all these things, nor would He have told us such things as these at this time,'" -Judges 13:23
Use Your Gifts At Home To
- Make others understand things from God's point of view (Wisdom)
- Rest in the promises of the Lord
- Manoah means rest but he was restless
- Manaoh's wife reasoned with her husband why they will not die
SHE NAMED HIM SAMSON
"So the woman bore a son and called his name Samson; and the child grew, and the Lord blessed him. And the Spirit of the Lord began to move upon him at Mahaneh Dan between Zorah and Eshtaol." -Judges 13:24-25
