"And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it" (Matthew 16:18).

WHAT TO LISTEN TO WHEN YOU'RE LISTENING

• 1. Jesus Is The Messiah, The Son Of The Living God
• 2. Jesus Will Build His Church On This Truth (He Is Christ)
• 3. Jesus Will Prevail Over Death
• 4. Jesus Will Lead The Perpetual Church

"Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God" (Matthew 16:16).

• The Second Confession of Peter Compared To The Popular Opinion (Matthew 16:14)
• The First Confession of Peter In the Midst of Desertion (John 6:69)

Note: Despite desertion and popular opinion many believed Jesus was the Messiah.

"And I also say to you that you are Peter" (Matthew 16:18)

• The Emphasis Is On "And" In Relations To The Father Revealed To You One Truth
• The Emphasis Is On "And" I Will Tell You Another

Note: Shift from the controversial emphasis "You are Peter versus You are Christ."

"And on this rock I will build My church."

• Christ Is The Cornerstone of TO the Church (Ephesians 2:20)
• Christ Will Build His Church (1 Peter 2:4,5,9)

Note: The disciples were foundational on building the church but Jesus was the cornerstone (On this rock).

"The gates of Hades shall not prevail against it."

• The Church Is Built Upon The Son of The Living God
• The Church On The Rock Will Prevail And Be Alive

Note: Hades is not attacking the church but attempting to prevail upon the church by imprisoning the Head of the church.
