Sunday June 21, 2026 - Pastor Wungreiso Valui
Genesis 41:46-57
Big Idea: You can build a God-centered marriage and family even in a culture that does not share your faith.
Two Sons: Manasseh and Ephraim: Joseph Received a Double Portion Blessing - v50a
"And now your two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh... are mine; as Reuben and Simeon, they shall be mine." Genesis 48:5
- Jacob adopted Joseph's two sons as his own. This is the double portion blessing.
Question: What loss in your life do you need to trust God to redeem into blessing?
Asenath, Daughter of Poti-Pherah Priest of On: Joseph's Place Did Not Replace His God v50b
"And Pharaoh called Joseph's name Zaphnath-Paaneah. And he gave him as a wife Asenath, the daughter of Poti-Pherah priest of On." Genesis 41:45
- Joseph did not let Egypt define his children's identity.
Question: What part of today's culture is trying to rename your family, reshape your values, or redirect your worship?
Manasseh: God Helped Joseph Move Beyond the Wound - v51
"Manasseh: 'For God has made me forget all my toil and all my father's house."
- The name Mannaseh is connected to forgetfulness.
Question: What wound from the past still has power over your present?
Ephraim: God Can Make You Fruitful in Suffering - v52
Ephraim: 'For God has caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction."
- The name Ephraim is connected to fruitfulness.
Question: Where is God calling you to be fruitful, even while the place still feels painful?
Seven Years: God Fulfilled His Dream - vs53-54
"Then the seven years of plenty which were in the land of Egypt ended, and the seven years of famine began to come"
- What God reveals, God will fulfill.
Question: What promise, calling, or dream from God feels buried by circumstances right now?
"Go to Joseph": God Turns Rejection into Redemption - v55
"So when all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried to Pharaoh for bread. Then Pharaoh said to all the Egyptians, 'Go to Joseph; whatever he says to you, do."
- What people meant to bury, God used to bless.
Question: Where do you need to believe that God can overrule what others meant for harm?
Final Reflection Question: What part of Joseph's story speaks most to your family today: the pain of Manasseh, the fruitfulness of Ephraim, the pressure of Egypt, the dream that seemed buried, or the forgiveness of Genesis 50:20?
Next Step: This week, name one area of pain, pressure, or disappointment in your family and pray:
