Hope: Anchored in the Promises of God
Hope in God Who Restores
Sunday August 23, 2026 - Pastor Wungreiso Valui
Isaiah 52
MAIN POINT: Because God reigns, we can rise from captivity, move forward with confidence, and fix our eyes on the Servant through whom God brings ultimate restoration.
1. AWAKE - RISE AND WAKE UP TO THE GOD WHO REIGNS Isaiah 52:1-10
"Awake, awake! Put on your strength, O Zion." - Isaiah 52:1
"Your God reigns!" - Isaiah 52:7
God calls His people to rise because captivity is not their identity.
- v.1 - "Awake, awake! Put on your strength."
- v.2 - "Shake yourself from the dust, arise."
- v.3 - "You shall be redeemed without money."
- v.7 - "Your God reigns!"
- v.9 - "The LORD has comforted His people."
- v.10 - "All the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God."
QUESTION: Where have I allowed disappointment, failure, or captivity to define me more than the truth that God reigns?
APPLICATION: Wake up to God's reign. Rise in faith and refuse to let your past or present circumstances define what God can still do.
2. DEPART - WALK AND MOVE FORWARD WITH GOD Isaiah 52:11-12
"Depart! Depart! Go out from there." - v.11
"For the LORD will go before you, and the God of Israel will be your rear guard." - v.12
God does not only call His people to wake up; He commands them to move.
- v.11 - "Depart! Depart! Go out from there."
- v.11 - "Touch no unclean thing."
- v.11 - "Be clean."
- v.12 - "You shall not go out with haste.
- v.12 - "The LORD will go before you."
- v.12 - "The God of Israel will be your rear guard."
QUESTION: What is God asking me to leave behind so I can move forward with Him?
APPLICATION: Take the next step of obedience. Trust that God is already ahead of you and will faithfully lead you forward.
3. BEHOLD - LOOK AND FIX YOUR EYES ON THE SERVANT Isaiah 52:13-15
"Behold, My Servant shall deal prudently; He shall be exalted and extolled and be very high." - v.13
God centers the attention of His people from their circumstances to His Servant.
- v.13 - "Behold, My Servant."
- v.13 - "He shall be exalted and extolled and be very high."
- v.14 - His appearance was marred through suffering.
- v.15 - "So shall He sprinkle many nations."
- v.15 - Kings will stand astonished before Him.
QUESTION: Am I placing my hope mainly in changed circumstances, or am I fixing my eyes on the Servant who saves?
APPLICATION: Fix your eyes on Jesus. Trust His saving work and make Him the center of your hope, whatever your circumstances may be.
RISE IN FAITH #8226; WALK IN OBEDIENCE #8226; LOOK TO JESUS
QUESTION: Where is God inviting me to hope again?
NEXT STEP: Stretch your faith and make room for God's promise.
