Isaiah 63-64

BIG IDEA: Our hope is not that we are strong enough to save ourselves, but that our God is mighty to save, merciful enough to receive us, and faithful enough to restore us.

"I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save...For I have trodden them in My anger, And trampled them in My fury; Their blood is sprinkled upon My garments, And I have stained all My robes...For the day of vengeance is in My heart...And the year of My redeemed has come. I looked, but there was no one to help, And I wondered,That there was no one to uphold; Therefore My own arm brought salvation for Me; And My own fury, it sustained Me. I have trodden down the peoples in My anger, Made them drunk in My fury, And brought down their strength to the earth"- Isaiah 63:1-7

ISAIAH 63:8 - 64: A PRAYER RISING OUT OF BROKENNESS

1. REMEMBER - GOD IS MIGHTY TO SAVE - Isaiah 63:1-14

"I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save." - Isaiah 63:1

"In His love and in His pity He redeemed them... and carried them." - 63:9

Truth Reminder: When circumstances look overwhelming, remember who God is and what He has done.

Question: Where do I need to remember God's faithfulness today? Where have I forgotten God's faithfulness because of what I am facing now?

Application: Remember the ways God has carried, redeemed, and rescued you.

2. RETURN - WE NEED GOD TO COME NEAR AGAIN - Isaiah 63:15-19; 64:1-7

"Look down from heaven..." - Isaiah 63:15

"Oh, that You would rend the heavens! That You would come down!" - 64:1

"All our righteousnesses are like filthy rags." - 64:6

Truth Reminder: Renewal and Revival begins when we return and begin crying out for God.

Question: What needs to change in me for me to return fully to God?

Application: Confess self-reliance, repent, and ask God to renew His presence and work in your life.

3. REST - OUR HOPE IS IN THE HANDS OF OUR FATHER - Isaiah 64:8-12

"You are our Father; we are the clay, and You our potter; and all we are the work of Your hand." - Isaiah 64:8

"Indeed, please look-we all are Your people!" - 64:9

Truth Reminder: The God who is mighty to save is also the Father who is still shaping His people.

Question: Am I willing to let God reshape what I have been trying to control? What am I asking God to change-and what is He asking to shape in me?

Application: Place yourself back into God's hands and trust Him with what comes next.
