New Life in Christ
Sunday September 27, 2026 - Pastor Wungreiso Valui
Romans 6-7
HOW SHOULD WE LIVE NOW THAT WE BELONG TO JESUS? | Romans 6-7
- Romans 6 shows us our NEW IDENTITY in Christ: I am not who I used to be.
- Romans 7 reveals the ONGOING STRUGGLES we face as we learn to live out that identity: But I still struggle with what I used to do.
NEW IDENTITY: I am not what I used to be - ROMANS 6: 1-12
v.11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
- What does it mean practically to be "dead to sin and alive to God"? Why Baptism.
- What areas of life are hardest for people to surrender fully to God? How should knowing that you belong to Christ change the way you respond to temptation?
ONGOING STRUGGLES: I still struggle with what I used to do - ROMANS 7:18-25
v.19-20 for the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.
- Why can someone genuinely love God and still experience a strong struggle with sin? (Romans 7:17-19)
- Paul cries, "Who will deliver me?" and answers, "I thank God-through Jesus Christ our Lord!" What does this teach us about where victory ultimately comes from?
- How can we help one another face spiritual struggles without shame, judgment, or pretending?
REMINDER:
- Romans 6 says: Remember who you are.
- Romans 7 says: Recognize the struggle.
- Jesus says: You do not fight alone.
