Romans 8

NO CONDEMNATION - THE SPIRIT SETS US FREE | Romans 8:1-11

"There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus..." - v.1

In Christ, our past no longer condemns us, and the Spirit gives us power for a new way of living.

NO LONGER SLAVES - THE SPIRIT MAKES US FAMILY | Romans 8:12-17

"The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God." - v.16

The Spirit replaces fear with assurance: we belong to God as His sons and daughters.

QUESTION:

My failure is real. Am I trying to live the Christian life in my own strength or by God's power?

PRESENT SUFFERING - THE SPIRIT GIVES US HOPE | Romans 8:18-25

"The sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us." - v.18

Our suffering is real, but it is temporary; God is moving us toward a glory greater than our present pain.

WHEN WE ARE WEAK - THE SPIRIT HELPS US PRAY | Romans 8:26-27

"Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses." - v.26

When we have no strength, the Spirit meets us in our weakness and intercedes for us.

QUESTION:

My suffering & weakness is real. What do I do when I do not even know what to pray?

NOTHING IS WASTED - GOD IS WORKING HIS PURPOSE | Romans 8:28-30

"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God..." - v.28

God can use everything to shape us into the likeness of Jesus.

NOTHING CAN SEPARATE US - GOD'S LOVE WINS | Romans 8:31-39

"Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us." - v.37

Our victory rests NOT in escaping trouble but in the unbreakable love of God.

QUESTION:

My fear is real. What am I afraid could separate me from God's love?

ROMANS 8 Begins With No Condemnation And Ends With No Separation.

NEXT STEP: Stop living defined by your past; start living secure in God's love.
