Discipleship & Stewardship
Sunday October 18, 2026 - Pastor Wungreiso Valui
Romans 12-13

Romans 12 begins with surrendering our bodies and minds to God, and

Romans 13 ends with a call to put on the Lord Jesus Christ.

LIVE AS A LIVING SACRIFICE

Our Bodies and Minds - Romans 12:1-2

"Present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service." (v. 1)

Following Jesus begins with surrendering to God and allowing Him to renew our minds.

LIVE OUT YOUR SPIRITUAL GIFTS

Our Gifts and Abilities - Romans 12:3-8

"Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them." (v. 6)

God gives us different gifts to serve others and strengthen the body of Christ.

LIVE LIKE A FOLLOWER OF JESUS

Our Relationships - Romans 12:9-21

"Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." (v. 21)

Genuine discipleship is demonstrated through love, humility, forgiveness, and doing good.

  • Q: What areas of your life are most difficult to surrender to God?
  • Q: Are you using the gifts God has given you to build up others? Why or why not?
  • Q: Which command in Romans 12:9-21 challenges you most in your relationships?

LIVE TO HONOR AUTHORITY

Our Responsibilities - Romans 13:1-7

"Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor." (v. 7)

Followers of Jesus honor authority and fulfill their responsibilities while recognizing God's ultimate authority.

LOVE YOUR NEIGHBORS

Our Actions Toward Others - Romans 13:8-10

"Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law." (v. 10)

Loving our neighbors means actively seeking their good.

LIVE READY FOR CHRIST

Our Time and Priorities - Romans 13:11-14

"But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts." (v. 14)

Christ's return calls us to spiritual urgency, holy living, and wise use of our time.

  • Q: If you truly lived expecting Christ's return, what would change in your priorities?
  • Q: How can we honor governing authorities while remaining faithful to God?
  • Q: What does loving your neighbor look like beyond words and good intentions?

Loving God is the foundation. Living as a follower of Jesus is the evidence.
