Romans 14-16

Mature disciples strengthen others and carry the gospel where Christ is not yet known.

ROMANS 14 - RECEIVE ONE ANOTHER

Love those who are weak in faith. Pursue peace and build one another up.
  1. Romans 14:1 - "Receive one who is weak in the faith, but not to disputes over doubtful things."
  2. Romans 14:19 - "Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another."

Q. How can we receive and encourage someone who is weak or growing in faith?

ROMANS 15 - STRENGTHEN ONE ANOTHER AND REACH ALL NATIONS

Build others up and proclaim Christ where He is not known.
  1. Romans 15:2 - "Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, leading to edification."
  2. Romans 15:7 - "Therefore receive one another, just as Christ also received us, to the glory of God."
  3. Romans 15:20 - "And so I have made it my aim to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build on another man's foundation."

Q. Who can you intentionally strengthen in faith, and who needs to hear the gospel through you?

ROMANS 16 - SERVE TOGETHER AND PROTECT UNITY

Honor faithful servants, guard the church, and advance the gospel.
  1. Romans 16:1-2 Paul commends Phoebe, a servant of the church, and asks believers to receive and assist her.
  2. Romans 16:3 "Greet Priscilla and Aquila, my fellow workers in Christ Jesus."
  3. Romans 16:17 "Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them."

Q. How can we use our gifts to serve together, honor others, and protect the unity of the church?

FINAL CHALLENGE - FROM DISCIPLES TO DISCIPLE-MAKERS

We are not called merely to become mature disciples. We are called to become disciple-makers.

Q. Who am I reaching? Am I sharing Jesus with someone who does not know Him?

  1. Romans 16:26 - "Made known to all nations, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, for obedience to the faith."
