"My Well-beloved has a vineyard
On a very fruitful hill." (Isaiah 5:1b)

"For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel, And the men of Judah are His pleasant plant. (Isaiah 5:7)

In chapter 5 of Isaiah, God describes the Israelites as a vineyard. In Psalm 80: 8-15, God describes Israel as a choice vine. God brought Isreal out of Egypt. God planted Israel on a hill, set its roots deep, and Israel soon grew great branches. But Israel's grapes were very sour. God does everything He can to help us bear good fruit, but we have to be firmly rooted in Him before that will happen. When we fail to stay connected to God, what we bring forth is like withered, tasteless grapes (John 15:4-6).
