July 2023
Our church-wide Sabbatical journey has entered the phase of Reflection.
Taking a sabbatical is a unique opportunity to step away from the daily demands of life and focus on personal and spiritual growth. By practicing Sabbatical Reflection, you will deepen your relationship with God, gain greater clarity and perspective about your life, and develop habits that will support your growth even after your sabbatical has come to its end.
Leviticus 25:11-12 provides the theme for our Sabbatical Reflection:
"That fiftieth year shall be a Jubilee to you; in it you shall neither sow nor reap
what grows of its own accord, nor gather the grapes of your untended vine.
For it is the Jubilee; it shall be holy to you; you shall eat its produce from the
field."
Each Sunday we will reflect on a specific area in which our church has been blessed during this special time. So far, we have looked at the fruit of the ministry that God has given to us do during the past nine months. We have also examined from both personal and corporate perspectives the concept and hoped for results of taking a Sabbatical.
Now, as we move forward, we will be looking at some specific ways that a Sabbatical can enrich our lives, and how a sabbatical can lead us to serve and minister to others.
Here is the focus of each worship service on Sabbatical Reflection this month:
July 2: Worship in the Sabbatical Year.
July 9: Youth Sunday – Celebrating God’s Work in Our Youth.
July 16: Sabbatical Journaling for Personal Growth.
July 23: Discipleship in the Sabbatical Year.
July 30: HOPE Silicon Valley Community Outreach.
Our prayer is that during this month of Sabbatical Reflection each of us will become more aware of the unique blessings that God has provided for us as we draw nearer to Him.
