Life Track: Membership

On Tuesday, December 15th, Bernie and Ramonia, Alex and Miji, and Brandy met in a Zoom meeting with Pastor Valui to find out more about Santa Clara First Baptist Church, and some expressed a desire to join the church.  Congratulations!

Vaccines are the HOPE of the future... according to Danijela

We have heard about the "double blind clinical trial" for the COVID-19 vaccine, but did you know that one of our own - Danijela, - SCFBC Youth Mentor and a front line worker since way before March, was part of one of the studies? In fact, she is one of the longest human participants with the vaccine in her system. She had the first inoculation in August and the second one in September 2020. There were a few minor side effects from the second one, so she was able to curl up with a good book one day as she got rid of the chills and fever and a few aches and fatigue. A little rest and she was back at work the next day. She said she also takes the annual flu vaccine on a regular basis as a preventative measure. She explained that the "vaccine" is administered to "train or show" our body how to better fight off a particular virus with antibodies.  In her case, it is working and she is proud that she was able to help in this way.

As we have heard, with the vaccine availability the way it is, most of us probably won't be getting the vaccine until Spring or Summer - after the front line workers, emergency responders and others. When it is available for you, please consider getting it for you and your family if at all possible. The CDC does want to have as many people as possible vaccinated to eradicate the virus. As with polio and measles, it is the only way to get rid of the pandemic. In the meantime, yes, we still do need to keep our distance; wash and wear clean masks; wash our hands for 20 seconds with soap and hot water; when possible wear eye protection and of course, pray.

Danijela is willing to answer general questions you may have about the vaccine and/or you can check with your specific health care provider. Her email address is Danijela@scfbc.org. She asks that in the mean time, we continue to pray for the front line workers and everyone to stay healthy so we can get back to life as we knew it soon.
