September 2019

We are going DEEP this fall! Biblical illiteracy is becoming less prevalent among many churchgoers. When we are not founded in the Word, we flounder in our walk with God. As the Psalmist wrote, “Deep calls to deep.” (Psalm 42:7) The Word of God will direct our path in the roar of the waterfalls, and when waves and breakers sweep over us.

The board and staff have set a goal for the church to read the Bible more. There will be a church-wide emphasis on reading the entire New Testament in the new ministry year, which is from September 2019 through August 2020. You will be receiving a "Reading Challenge" email weekly or daily, according to your choice. I encourage you to discipline yourself to read the Word of God more in this coming year. And, of course, it will be even better for you if you to do that with a group of faithful people!

Devoting our time to the Word of God is essential to be a living church. The Bible will give us practical directions in our everyday life. It is an everyday book. The Bible understands the human condition and is full of wisdom for every day, every week, every month, and every year. I hope and pray that we will be like the believers in the early church, where “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” (Acts 2:42)

Fall Life Groups begin on September 1 and last through November 23. You can sign up for the group of your choice during the Sunday worship services by using the Connect Card found in the pockets of the sanctuary chairs, or you can sign up 24/7 by visiting scfbc.org/lg. Once you sign up, your Life Group leader will contact you.
