Christmas at Sea
Each year our church has packed Ditty Bags with Christmas gifts to be given to sailors coming into the Port of Oakland at Christmas time. The American Baptist Women of Santa Clara have done the Ditty Bag project for many years.
At this time, the Seafarers Ministry of the Golden Gate has not developed its plan for what should be in the Ditty Bags, when to bring them to the International Maritime Center, or how the mission will get the bags to the ships. This year, our ladies have already made 200 bags and we are now waiting for instructions on what we should do with them next. We will not be able to have our usual “Packing Party” at the Maritime Center due to social distancing requirements.
