We finally received the information we needed regarding what we can do – and when – for the Christmas at Sea program this year.
We will be collecting items to take to Oakland on Saturday, October 24th, to the Seafarers Ministry of the Golden Gate. If you have items to donate, please contact Maxine Cintas at (408) 396-8228 for pick up. Or if you would like to bring your donations to the church office, please call to see when the office will be open (408) 241-7635. Currently, it is usually open on Wednesday afternoons, but call to be sure. If you would like to donate money, please send it by giving to the church, and make sure you designate your donation for the Seafarers Ministry. We will then use your donations to purchase items needed for the gift bags. Below is a list of what the sailors would like to receive in the bags.
Suggested Items for Christmas Gifts for Ditty Bags
Toiletries: Tooth Paste, Bar Soap, Tooth Brushes, Deodorant, Nails Clippers, Hand Lotion, Razors, ChapStick, Small First Aid Kit, Shaving Cream of travel size only (no cans). And, please, NO SUPERSIZED items and no hotel shampoos.
Other Items: Warm gloves and/or socks. Knitted caps/scarves (please use the pattern available at SMGG.ORG.) Travel-size games or cards (to play for fun) and any kind of puzzle books. Any similar new items would also be appropriate.
Please use the prescribed guidelines for the gifts found above. No used items, please! Remember that we want these gifts to show our love for Christ.
