The Reverend Dr. Jon and Amanda Good are Global Servants serving in Hungary. In partnership with the Baptist Union of Hungary, they serve through the ministries of evangelism, discipleship, education, and theological education. Amanda also assists with education at the school managed by the Baptist Church in Debrecen, as well as schools managed by Hungarian Baptist Aid (HBAid). She also helps with discipleship ministries of the Baptist Church in Debrecen. Jon assists the Baptist Church in Debrecen with its evangelistic outreach, planting churches, and developing church ministries. He also helps with the training of Christian leaders through the Baptist Union’s seminary. Amanda and Jon also work together with the church planting efforts of HBAid.

Recently they wrote: "Imagine our surprise when we were asked, 'My friend wants to come to English Bible study. She doesn’t know if it would be okay because she wears a hijab.' We immediately recognized that Christ was at work and encouraged her to bring every friend she has. God continues to surprise us in the most amazing ways.

There is a large international community here in Debrecen. Many people have come to study at the university and others are here for business or personal reasons. The languages of Hungarian and English are difficult to bridge. Those who don’t speak Hungarian can feel isolated and lonely. For that reason, our partners asked us to help them begin an English ministry outreach. Every week, new Christians and non-Christians come to study the Bible and be part of the community. We are continually amazed as the Lord draws more and more people to Himself.

The reading of the Bible in English continues to reach new people. Each week we provide teaching, worship, and community connection opportunities. Now that we are online, people who are currently in Budapest, the Hungarian countryside, Kazakhstan, South Africa, and even California can participate in small groups. We are amazed at how God is using this new platform to build the community and share the hope of Christ.

Please pray that the English Bible study will continue to grow - for the good of those currently attending and those yet to join us – and that many will become disciples of Jesus.
