Mission Moments

Emerson and Ivy Wu are International Missions global servants (missionaries) who served for several years in Macau, China. In 2015, they transferred to Hong Kong to serve on the Yunnan Province Christian Council and Christian Three-self Patriotic Movement committee (YCC & TSPM) to help with their theological training. In Hong Kong, they also started the Global Chinese Training Ministry in January of 2016. In February of last year, they finished a work trip to Taiwan, but were forced to stay because of the virus breakout, the global travel restrictions, and the implementation of the new Hong Kong National Security Law. In September, International Ministries approved their relocation to Taiwan.

They write: “We continue our previous ministry in overseeing the COVID relief in Hong Kong with the Swatow Baptist churches and NGOs, and in Taiwan, there are new opportunities for us to serve the Christian Hakka Seminary and the Research Center for Supporting Families of Children with Special Needs of Chung Yuan Christian University. In Seminary, we are sponsoring theological education. In the Center, we provide spiritual support, discipleship, and administrative consultation for the staff, volunteer students, clients, and their families. In July, during this unexpected stay, we connected with the Hakka Churches to help establish a new and first-time Hakka Church in southern Taiwan. The church serves the neighboring Hakka Community, along with a college campus ministry.”
