February 2021

God truly blessed our youth ministry last year. We experienced spiritual growth and growth in numbers, and we developed our spiritual disciplines by studying the Bible, praying, practicing resting, serving, and spending quiet time with the Lord.

The weekly challenge for our youth was to bless someone during the quarantine. Some of the creative ways they met the challenge were: painting rocks with encouraging words on them, and then placing the rocks throughout their neighborhoods where people would see them; writing anonymous notes to neighbors; baking and delivering yummy treats; serving meals for the JW House; and praying for friends and connecting online with them.

Some of our bigger outreaches last year included the "Vibin’ at the Drive-In" Fundraiser that raised $2,000 for medical treatments for Erik Greene, a 13-year-old Christian boy with stage-4 cancer. We also supported a local business, Best Coast Burritos, which provided free lunches to some of the first responders in the Bay Area.

Some of the VIBE Ministry Highlights for 2020:

  • Central Park Ice Skating
  • Camp Sugar Pine Winter Camp
  • Shifting to Online Zoom for Sundays and Wednesdays
  • Completing our 52-week Rescue Bible Study on the Gospels
  • Learning Survival Skills

The year 2020 was challenging, but it was also a time of growth and opportunity to become the best version of ourselves as we represent the Lord through both our words and our actions.

"What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, 'Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,' but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead". James 2:14-17
